Second Round table on the Revision of Meat Inspection 25/10/2010
We would like to invite you to attend the Second Round table Conference on the Revision of Meat Inspection to be held in Brussels, Charlemagne building, on 25th October 2010 from 10:00 to 17:15hrs

On 28 July 2009, the European Commission adopted the Commission Report on the experience gained from the application of the Hygiene Regulations (http://ec.europa.eu/food/food/biosafety/hygienelegislation/docs/report_act_part1_en.pdf). The Conclusions of the Council on the Commission report were adopted on 20 November 2009 inviting the Commission to prepare concrete proposals allowing the effective implementation of modernised sanitary inspection in slaughterhouses while making full use of the principle of the 'risk-based approach'.

The Health and Consumers Directorate General of the European Commission (SANCO) is organising the second Round Table Conference on the revision of meat inspection, focussed this time on pig meat inspection.
The Conference will host representatives from the Member States, including Chief Veterinary Officers, scientific experts and representatives of international organisations. In addition, representatives of the European stakeholders associations will be invited.
This meeting is intended to provide a state of play on current practical experiences, including encountered new challenges, and relevant background information with particular focus on the Future pig meat inspection.
